Hi, curlers!
A few quick things before the season starts in 11 days!
Registration is still open! We will be making decisions regarding which leagues will run on October 15, so to ensure you are able to play in your favorite league, please make sure to register by then! You can register here or using the attached form and taking it to the front desk of the Community Center.
Drop-in week starts on October 17 and league play begins the week of October 24.
The Midland Open Bonspiel still has plenty of spots open! We are accepting more Midland teams than we usually do since we do not have our friends from Canada joining us this year. Please register here as soon as possible! The Midland Open runs from the evening of October 22 through the morning of October 24.
Volunteers - we need them! Please sign up here to let us know when you are available to volunteer. We need on and off-ice helpers for the upcoming Learn to Curl events on October 30 and November 6 from 1-3, as well as for rentals throughout the year. This is a great way to get involved in the club further and rental income really does help with our club finances, but we cannot run them without you!
Thank you so much for your participation! See you in a few weeks!

Over the last couple of months, there has been a lot of uncertainty around when and even if we'd be able to resume curling this season, but I am thrilled to announce that relaxed restrictions on indoor sports means we'll soon be able to resume the curling season! Starting Saturday, the club will reopen for curling activities.
Because of the many weeks that we lost during the fall session, the board has decided that it makes the most sense to end the fall session, transfer all current registrations (including your dues and fees) to the winter session, and to reopen registration for any additional curlers who might want to sign up at this point. If you were registered for the fall session and you want to curl in the winter session, no action is required on your part.
Registration is now open for the winter session for anyone who wasn't already signed up for the fall session.
If you were registered for the fall session are unwilling or unable to participate in the winter session, you have a few options:
Support the club by donating your 2020-21 member dues and league fees.
Transfer your 2020-21 member dues and league fees to the 2021-22 season.
Request a refund of your 2020-21 member dues and league fees.
The session will begin this coming week with drop-in (look out for communications from your league chairs for details) and will end on 3/18, which will allow for a total of nine weeks (one week of optional drop-in plus eight weeks of league curling). The club pandemic guidelines that were in place when we stopped curling before Thanksgiving will remain in effect until further notice.

Curlers, great news! With the recent change to the state restrictions on indoor sporting events, we're allowed to open! Registration opens today; however, things at the club will be a little different this time around. The board has developed guidelines for curling this season that will change how the club operates and how we all curl, so please read through the guidelines document before you register.

The Midland Curling Club Operating Board has adopted guidelines on how we intend to run the club in the current Covid-19 environment. A link to the document appears below. Note that one requirement for any curling in our club this year is for the Midland area to be at Safe Start Level 5. Like fitness centers, we cannot open if we are still at Safe Start Level 4. We will try to keep members updated as the situation changes. We remain optimistic that we will have a modified curling season this year.

Our Midland Curling Club board has been engaged in a series of 2020/2021 season planning and contingency meetings. Based on guidance from the USCA, consulting with the Greater Midland Community Center (our parent organization) and reviewing state and federal guidelines for Covid-19 - we have determined that in the best interest of the health and safety of curlers, volunteers and families of curlers that we made the difficult decision to cancel the 2020 Open Bonspiel that was planned for this coming October.
We are planning to host our next Midland Open Bonspiel in October of 2021 and we hope to see you at this event.
Please stay safe and healthy during this challenging time!

We had a record 285 members of the Midland Curling Club for the 2019/2020 season with many of our leagues full or near capacity. Our Junior teams had much success and were really excited about competing in Nationals when the season came to an abrupt end. Looking forward to seeing everyone again next season. Stay safe!
